I keep seeing this quite specific setup appearing on individuals in artwork - scale helmet and baggy/untailored hauberk. It's usually shown on only one person in a scene rather that many soldiers. Is this an artistic meme? Is it visual shorthand for some kind of rustic soldier character? Who is this cheeky chappy?
And a chopped halberd head as a side arm. Another weapon is a stick (thought it was an adz earlier), though he has two more weapones carried . And falchion/messer in the third. Gives me poor soldier vibe.

Scale cervellieres can also be seen in some landsknecht illustrations. Generally, a soldier in a scale cap, and mail shirt (especially a ragged one) is being depicted as a low form of soldier, most often seen in Biblical scenes. But not always.
